The obvious "local attractions" would be the tranquility, the views, the wild life and the walking opportunities. However, if you are wanting to go and see things, then take a trip to Foyers Falls, where there is a lovely walk down into the beautiful and spectacular waterfalls.
There are also many Forestry Commission areas where you can walk freely on easy tracks.
