CLA Game Fair

Thank you to ALL our fantastic visitors to our stand at CLA. It was a great, great show.

I am sure we missed many people because whenever one of us wandered out from our stand to have a quick look around the show (wearing our Tuffies shirts), people came us to us and asked where the Tuffie stand was. It is no wonder because it is a HUGE show. We will see you next time..... or at Birr, Midland, Chatsworth or Galloway?

SEE YOU SOON.

Grouse counting

So life has finally started again!! We are back out on the moor looking at the state of the grouse. I took Tippex, Gollum and Alice out on Monday and Tuesday. What a great couple of days. They were all running fantastically and found grouse without more than a few, excusable mistakes. The grouse, however, was struggling a bit and it looks like we have lots of second broods because the birds lost their first brood in the horrible, cold weather in June.

Scone Game Fair

5th July 2011: We had three fantastic days at Scone game fair. Thank you to everyone who came to see us. We love all the nice comments about your Tuffies and of course we were delighted to see so many people walking off the stand with their new Tuffies.

Here is Broara trying out a Tuffie Nest dog bed. She did decide to go for a ''large'' in the end.

The weather was fantastic the whole weekend and we are looking forward to seeing you all next year.

Long break
6th June: After neglecting the Tuffies diary for ages, here is a little piece of news: We have been looking around for tweed for some time, in fact we wanted to do this for the last few years and never got round to it....
Now we have a product "Coming soon to Tuffies": a beautiful range of limited editions of tweed from Johnston's in Elgin. Johnston's are famous for all their woven and knitted lambs wool and cashmere (sorry, we are not going to launch a cashmere cover..). In the next couple of weeks we will be able to offer tweed covers for your Tuffies. See picture on your right.

Tuffies at Gleneagles Hotel
15th April: I went into the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire last week to see how they were getting on with the Tuffie beds. We fitted their entire Gun Dog School and the guest's kennels out with Tuffie beds three years ago. The beds still looked immaculate.

Last day counting grouse pairs
10th April: Took the two GWPs out this morning to check out the grouse for the last time. The picture I always wanted to take got taken today. Could have been a little more crisp, but to capture the dog's face as she watches 'her' bird go up after the point and flush is what it's all about.

Hanging out the window
17th March: We have started gently to visit the grouse moors to see if the grouse are pairing up and are healthy. Gollum does have a Tuffie dog bed in the back of the car, but he always hangs out the window like this. German Wirehaired pointers are not keen on missing out on what goes on.

CRUFTS
15th March 2011: THANK YOU TO EVERY ONE WHO CAME TO SEE US AT CRUFTS. We had a tremendous show and were delighted to meet so many happy customers, who just wanted to come along to say how pleased they (and their dog) was with their Tuffie dog bed.

Kennel Club Facebook Competition
7th March:
Billy and Heidi were also hoping to win a Tuffie dog bed in the Kennel Club Facebook competition. Here they are, sharing some squashed excuse of a dog bed.

Still time for pointing
19th Feb: Running tippex on a nice sunny day, the birds are sitting tight in the golden bracken. Tippex rarely misses a bird these days, but she is also now nearly six years old.

BOOK SIGNING AT CRUFTS on Tuffies Dog Bed stand
14th Feb: How exciting!!!! Andrew Dilger, author of "DASH, Bitch of the Year" is planning to come to Crufts to sign his brand new book at our stand (hall 5, stand 56). We are trying to arrange for him and Dash to be there on the Saturday for about four hours. Dash has several Tuffies dog beds and will feel more than at home on our stand.....
We will keep you posted in the next few days.
Here is Dash's link: http://dash-bitchoftheyear.blogspot.com/2011/02/every-bitch-deserves-bed.html

Frosty hunting morning.
11th Feb: Out in the frost with Gollum this morning. When he is being trained, he doesn't cock his legs, he just pees puppy style.
He pointed a FOX this morning.... nearly gave me a heart attack as it jumped out of the gorse bushes and ran off with its friend, the crow.

Look at the dog, not the dog bed
24th Jan 2011: from customer:
Hi, just a note to say we love the tuffies nest, excellent quality, people comment on the nest as much as they do on our gorgeous goldendoodle Ruby! Thanks so much, will be in touch soon for one for the boot!
Regards, Hayley

Long lasting dog beds from Tuffies
10th Jan. Anna writes: Dear Tuffies
After 10 years (the original bed is as good as new but looking well used ! ). Having been used constantly by 6 resident dogs and 2 daily visiting dogs in the office. I thought it was time the office was smartened up a bit and the 6 dogs (2 labradors, 2 cockers, 1 springer and 1 terrier plus another cocker and a bearded collie deserved a new bed or two !!
The beds arrived today, thank you, having had a long wet days shooting, 2 labs and 2 cockers are all tucked up in the circular bed. They are so thrilled with the new design !
Best wishes and many thanks
Anna

Any body else suffering the sniffle?
7th Jan: Back from the break and full of flu, which means that the dogs, wanting some action have had none. However, this morning, felling better, I took Tippex and Gollum out. Tippex found a woodcock immediately, which was flushed and Gollum picked up a "blind" dummy despite seeing three roe deer in full gallop only 100metres away. They don't forget their training that easily.

SNOOOOOW!!!!
8th Dec: Our area here is a breathtaking snow landscape. However, everybody is still coming in to make dog beds, so we just have to worry about the avalance waiting on the work shop roof.

Happy, happy!!
2nd December: Dear Tuffies
Thought I would let you know that we have your biggest rectangular bed which is in constant use by six dogs is still in perfect condition after 7 years !!
I am just about to order some different shapes, will contact you soon.
Anna

Happy Dobie on Tuffie dog bed
1st Dec: Hi There ,
We just received our new Tuffies bed yesterday and our Dobie Vegas LOVES it as you can see ..thank you !!
Blair

More snow
1st December: We have loads of snow, but all dog bed makers have arrived in the workshop. GREAT! The courier is picking up the dog beds, but not always reaching every corner of the country in 24 hours.

Hoping dog bed production will stay strong.
27th November: This morning the snow is about a foot outside. The workshop for our dog bed production is pretty much snowed in. And it's Monday tomorrow! I can see I will be out with the 4x4 picking dog bed makers up in the morning just like I did it last year. It's all good fun. Luise

Off for a week
4th November. Won't be writing much for a week as it's now off to America to talk dog beds. The Tuffie dogs are fine, though, eating apples and snooring on their dog beds in the garden.

Really need your dog beds this morning.
1st Nov: It's definitely November! Outside the frost has made our Scottish landscape white and all four dogs are curled up on their warm, dry Tuffie dog beds. Nobody's stirring from their dog beds despite the lighter morning.

Easy dog bed cleaning.
29th October: Happy customer writes:"Dear Tuffies
Having just washed my dog's Tuffie for the 7th time in two days, following a series of epileptic fits that left it covered in slime and urine, may I say thank you for making such a wonderful product that makes this difficult condition so much easier to manage. We have had it for several years and it shows no signs of wear.
Regards
Kathie

Snowdonia camping dog bed
25th Oct: As usual, we love hearing from dog bed customers and here is one accompaning the picture to the right:
Dear Luise,
Thought you may like to see that attached images of my whippet x, Millie, using her new Tuffies bed - we took them both camping in Snowdonia and this was the result! It's a great bed to take camping since it's washable and tough!
All best, Sarah

Back to the snipe
23rd October. Getting Gollum out of his dog bed when you wear a whistle round your neck.... no problem. Amazing how they are bred to love flying across the wind and STOP on the scent of a tiny little bird sitting in the bog. See picture of Gollum on point.

Mowing dog bed...
20th October: Yes, well Gollum is not the advert for Tuffies dog beds!!! Here he is, having chosen the cold metal on top of our old ride-on mower for comfort. Or in fact, he sacrifices the comfy dog bed for the hight provided by the mower. Gollum likes to know what goes on next door.

The start of our diary
7th October 2010: We have decided to start a little on-line diary for everyone who would be interested in what goes on at Tuffies Dog Beds. Our dogs are trained or worked almost every day, so for all of our customers, who are interested in a bit more than just Tuffies Dog Beds, the diary might be entertaining.
