Dog Beds with Washable Covers

Every dog owner has his or her own preferences. Some like that their dog sleeps in a cosy, supportive and warm bed that is totally waterproof. The advantages of waterproof dog beds are that you can take them outside and scrub them down with hot, soapy water and then rinse them under the garden hose. They dry easily on a sunny day or in a dry boot room.  Also, if you don’t like getting dog hairs in your washing machine or if drying facilities are not ideal, a purely waterproof dog bed will suit you best.

It has to be said that dog beds that are not waterproof should really be a thing of the past. By the time such beds are dirty and damp they will, if it is a large dog bed, almost just be ready for the bin. They do not fit in a domestic washing machine and a laundrette might refuse it. It would bounce around in a large washing machine and drying a non-waterproof bed would be difficult.

Waterproof dog beds are clearly the answer as a versatile base. So you prefer to use a washing machine instead of scrubbing with hot water outside? Tuffies supply a range of machine washable covers for all the waterproof dog beds.

Tuffies Washable Covers,

For our mattress dog beds we make several types of machine washable covers. From super absorbent “noodly” covers right through to light, poly-cotton twill covers in beautiful designs. Many customers like to use our thicker, warmer Luxury Fleece covers in the winter and the lighter ones in the summer.

We always supply our famous Tuffies Nests with a washable cover fitted on the base cushion. This is a great combination because it is the base mattress that usually gets dirty first. It is a small item to put in the washing machine. You can use a washing net to contain dog hairs if you don’t like them in the machine.

Further to the nest base cover we also supply a full cover that goes over the tall sides on the nest and this can be removed in seconds. All our covers can be washed at 60C for a thorough wash. 60C is important in order to kill house-dust mites and potential flee larvae etc. Lower temperatures are ok for cleaning, but it is advisable to reach 60C periodically to protect your dog from pests and allergies.

It is a real joy to put on a freshly laundered cover on your dog’s bed. Use a low perfume, environmentally friendly detergent as dogs’ noses are so extremely sensitive.
